(Coming 2017, IOS/Android). On top of not selling well, I remember someone made a command prompt Skylander stats editor using the PC drivers for the usb Portal, I used it for a few of my skylanders to get all heroic challenge buffs.
Activision probably wanted none of that and so refuse to do another PC version.Though they really should do what Disney Infinity are doing and have an all digital version of the game. IN FACT, the iOS version of Superchargers added in the ability to purchase digital versions of every Skylander/vehicle when no portal is connected, so maybe a PC version using this system is on the table?.
I don't think the Skylanders Editor has anything to do with the lack of a PC port. It's not like the Skylanders Editor stopped existing or working since Activision stopped releasing PC ports of the games. It still works, regardless if Activision releases the new games on PC.The game sold VERY poorly. It was an oversized box of PC software in a day and age where few people actually buy PC software in stores anyway, so retailers are reluctant to carry anything that isn't a huge seller (Sims, Blizzard titles, etc.) or $10 cheap-o match 3/hidden treasure/video slots/poker jewel-case titles. Asking them to carry a giant bundle pack of a title that simply did not sell at all just wasn't going to fly.
That is correct. Without a skylander there are 3 instant skylanders/vehicles you can swap between. You press a button to open the 'place a skylander on the portal' screen but it says 'or use an instant skylander'.
Hot streak/Spitfire are free but you have to buy instant Stealth Elf/Dive-Clops either as IAP or by placing the figure/vehicle on the portal if you have them.A recent update added the ability to buy all Skylanders in the 'collection' menu whether you have them or not. They're all $15 and I haven't bought any so I don't know specifically how they work, I assume they also show up on the instant skylander menu.
While the PC market has been growing over the last few years, Most of the sales has been digital. Given the Nature of Skylanders with their toys, I think it's too much a gamble for them to fund a PC port. Plus I think it's Developers choice to hire a small team to port version game to work on PC. While DLC could take the place of Figures, it's would feel a little off putting in the long term. Finally, Most of Activisions titles on the Steam store are intended for a mature Audience, as 3 of the 4 games published in the last year are rated higher than SuperChargers in the PEGI system.
Most of the PC gamers I am aware of are old enough to be having their own children. Also the intended Audience isn't expected to know what type of AA you should use, and just want to play the game, not setup the game.
